An ancient parable teaches us that acres of diamonds can be found right beneath our feet, if only we search for them. That's a great mantra for data mining, the process of sifting through complex data sets to find useful patterns that generate business value. Today, a whole host of options are available for leveraging the power of data mining: the old ways still work very well, and are now easier and less expensive than ever; and a wide variety of new techniques are available that incorporate the increasingly popular open-source projects like Apache Hadoop.
Register for this episode of DM Radio to hear Hosts Eric Kavanagh and Jim Ericson interview a who's who of the data mining world, including: Dean Abbott of Abbott Analytics, Eric Siegel of Prediction Impact; Steve Hillion of Alpine Data Labs; and Gregory Piatetsky of KDnuggets.
